Abigail Leong is a freshman at The King’s Academy in Sunnyvale, California and studies cello with Jonathan Koh.  She made her debut at Carnegie Hall with the Saint­-Saens Cello Concerto at age 10.  She currently studies chamber music at the Young Chamber Musicians and studied with the California Music Preparatory Academy for the past 3 years.  Recently Abigail’s piano trio (Trio Cantare) won third prize at the 2018 Yehudi Menuhin Chamber Music Galante Competition.  Abigail soloed with El Camino Youth Symphony at age 8.  This past year Abigail won first place at several competitions including:  MTNA state, VOCE state, Pacific Musical Society, Burlingame Music Club, KAMSA and DVC/HNU Young Artist competitions.  She also has two first place awards from the United States International Music Competition in 2014 and 2016 and was selected as a Fremont Symphony Orchestra Young Recitalist in 2016.  She was also selected as a soloist at the Junior Bach Festival.  During the summer Abigail has studied at the Meadowmount School of Music. She performed in many master classes given by noted musicians including Steven Rochen, Irene Sharp, Jonathan Koh and Mark Summer.  She has performed in many venues including the Santa Clara Convention Center, the Green Room of the War Memorial Opera House and Petit Trianon.  Abigail says one of her goals is to share music with others and has enjoyed performing for children, elderly and patients at hospitals.  Abigail likes to read and write short stories and poetry.  She also enjoys dancing modern, jazz, and tap in her spare time.
