Angelina Chen, age 17, is a freshman at the University of California, Los Angeles. She began playing piano at the age of four and since then has studied under multiple teachers, including Li Wang, Esmiralda Roushanova, and Lilit Babayan at the Moscow Central School of Music; in recent years, she has studied with Susan Wong and Felix Tao Chang. In 2014, she received first prize at the American Fine Arts Festival and was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York. In 2015, she was interviewed by AM1300 for her exceptional knowledge of Chinese and American arts. Since then, Angelina has placed at many competitions, such as the LA Gold Star Young Musician Competition, SYMF, Diamond Bar Performing Arts Academy (DBPAC), Bach Festival, and Sonata Festival. In 2019, she received state honors for Panel, an honorable achievement for MTAC Certificate of Merit students. At Northwood High School, Angelina was the captain of her dance team and performed baton alongside the marching band. In her free time, she enjoys baton twirling, which she has received national recognition for, and working out.
