James Qian, age 18, is currently pursuing his undergraduate studies at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in the studio of Benjamin Pasternack. Previously, James has studied with Dr. Andrew Park of the Azusa Pacific University, who helped James win many awards, including top prizes at the Lansum International Music Festival and the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition. James is also fortunate to have had the opportunity to perform in Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall and Bruno Walter Auditorium at the Lincoln Center. At the age of 15, he performed with the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra in Olomouc, Czech Replublic and in the Brahms Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna, Austria. In the past years, James has made festival appearances at the Montecito International Music Festival and the John Perry Academy Summer Festival, receiving masterclasses and lessons from some of the most renowned professors and teachers from all over the country, including John Perry, Dmitry Rachmanov, Sasha Starcevich, Sarkis Baltaian, Daniel Shapiro, Max Levinson, TJ Lymenstull, and Regulo Martinez-Anton.
