Eighteen-year-old Jason Moon began studying the violin at the age of five and is currently under the tutelage of Li Lin as a first-year undergraduate at the Juilliard School. As a native of the San Francisco Bay Area, he graduated in 2017 from the Menlo School and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-College, where he studied with Wei He. He played for five seasons with the California Youth Symphony and afterwards joined the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra for four seasons, with which he performed in the summer of 2015 in several European concert venues, including the Berlin Philharmonie and the Amsterdam Concertebouw.

Jason has won numerous competitions in the Bay Area including the US International Music Competition, the Silicon Valley Youth Music Competition, the DVC/HNU Young Artist Competition, Peninsula Symphony Youth Musicians’ Competition, and the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition. He has performed as solo violinist with the San Francisco Symphony and Peninsula Symphony Orchestra, among others. He has also had the pleasure of working with and performing in masterclasses for such renowned artists as Ilya Kaler, Miriam Fried, Lucie Robert, Kim Kashkashian, Ivan Zenaty, and Haik Kazazyan.

Jason thoroughly enjoys playing chamber music and has participated in the chamber music program at the SFCM Pre-College and in Susan Bates’s Young Chamber Musicians, through which he was able to perform for and work with the Borromeo, Escher, and Calidore String Quartets. He has in previous summers attended the Meadowmount School of Music, Northwestern University Summer Violin Institute, Music@Menlo Chamber Festival and Institute as a Young Performer, and Yellow Barn Young Artists Program.

Outside of the concert hall, Jason actively participates in many different non-profit music organizations, performing in concerts for various members of the community and teaching students with special educational needs.
